Guidelines for the content of your video

1. Who should be in the video
  • Developers - all fields of game development: programmers, artists, game designers, audio specialists, UX designers, producers. The emphasis is on in-the-trenches development.
  • All levels - junior and senior people. Studies show role models work best when they are visible at junior levels as well as senior levels.
2. Length

  • As short as it can be and still tell the story
  • 1 - 3 minutes.
3. Names
  • Giving speaker's full name is optional
4. Story
Each woman tells a story. Hopefully people listen to several of these short videos in a row, because the stories are interesting and games are fun to look at.

Story ideas:
  • A war story of a near disaster during development (that is constructive and has a teachable moment of some kind, not just a discouraging story)
  • A funny or unexpected or marvelous thing that happened during development
  • A game she worked on that got little recognition but she  was still pleased about
  • How she got into game development
  • What she does on a game development team
  • Her favorite feature she designed, or coded, or favorite piece of art or audio she created
Sample video:
  • This video from composer Penka Kouneva is an example of great video!
